Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Monnerat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royler Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monnerat's entrance music is Get Low. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Monnerat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royler Alves! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monnerat shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Alves doesn't succeed with the takedown and Monnerat counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Alves! Alves wants to hold on but Monnerat pushes him away. Monnerat goes for an armbar but Alves turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Alves. Monnerat is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.
Monnerat is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action! Monnerat has an active guard here but Alves has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monnerat regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Alves. Monnerat is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.
Monnerat is breathing heavily. Monnerat is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Monnerat trying to mount his opponent but Alves defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves wants to get back to full guard. Alves works his way to full guard. Good work. Monnerat trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Alves looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Monnerat with a lazy takedown attempt and Alves counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Monnerat! Monnerat can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time. Monnerat is looking to get to half guard. Alves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Monnerat has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monnerat is working to get back to half guard.
Monnerat is working hard here to advance position. Monnerat throwing hammer fists to the chest of Alves. What's that going to do exactly? Alves can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Monnerat is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monnerat fails with the takedown and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Monnerat's guard. Alves wants to control from the top but Monnerat keeps moving. Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monnerat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Alves looking to sit in guard and control but Monnerat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Monnerat is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Monnerat looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves wants to stand but Monnerat is controlling the position. Alves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Monnerat drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alves manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Monnerat has Alves in his guard. Monnerat has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Monnerat keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully. Alves wants to stand but Monnerat has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Alves showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Monnerat bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves throws his legs up looking for a submission but Monnerat uses it to pass to side control.
Monnerat in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Alves is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
