Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Curtis Granderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Virgil Albers!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Albers circles away from the clinch attempt.
Albers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Danga de danga de dang - Albers scores with a four punch combination!
Albers moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Albers lands a nice hook to Granderson's body. Granderson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Granderson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Albers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Granderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Granderson wants to pass the guard but Albers is keeping the position.
Granderson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Albers prevents Granderson from improving position.

Granderson tries for a kimura but Albers is defending well.
Granderson gets to mount! Albers was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Granderson throwing strikes here but Albers is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Granderson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Albers turns into him and now he's in Granderson's guard.

Granderson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Albers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Albers is looking to stand up but Granderson won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Granderson looking for a sweep. Not yet Granderson, not yet.
Granderson is working hard here to advance position.
Albers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Granderson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Granderson is breathing heavily.
Granderson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Albers manages to get himself to full guard.
Albers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Granderson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Albers is keeping the position for now.
Granderson postures up in Albers's guard and throws a big left but Albers blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Granderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Albers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Granderson stops Albers from standing up.
Albers is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Granderson dives into side control.
Albers dodges the ground and pound from Granderson.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Albers can do anything to dispel that myth.
Albers stops Granderson from passing to mount.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Granderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Albers paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Albers avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Albers lands a head shot.
Granderson is looking to clinch.

Granderson pushes Albers up against the cage in a clinch.
Granderson is looking to control Albers's arms but Albers gets an underhook and turns him. Now Granderson has his back to the cage.

Granderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A punch combination from Albers misses.

Granderson gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Albers is trying to break free.
Albers gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Granderson.
Granderson keeps control of Albers as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Albers tries to break the clinch but Granderson is controlling the position.

Granderson manages to pull guard.
Albers tries to stand but Granderson is controlling from the bottom.
Granderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Albers desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Granderson connects with a nice short shot to Albers's temple.
Granderson is tying to control. Albers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Granderson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Granderson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Granderson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Albers lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Albers misses with a two punch combination.
Granderson tries to clinch up but Albers circles away and keeps his distance.
Granderson seems to be stalking Albers here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Albers drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
