PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Street Justus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Brinkley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Justus might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The One. On his way into the cage it seems that Street Justus has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Street Justus seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Street Justus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesse Brinkley!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brinkley lands a jab to the head.
Brinkley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brinkley doesn't manage to clinch there - Justus circles away.
A combination from Brinkley does no damage.
Justus shoots in for a takedown but Brinkley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brinkley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Justus walks into a straight right hand from Brinkley.
Justus shoots in looking for a takedown. Brinkley tries to sprawl out of it but Justus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brinkley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Justus.
Brinkley is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
What can Brinkley do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Brinkley is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Brinkley swings for the body but Justus moves out of range.
Justus looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Brinkley closes the distance and pushes Justus back into the cage.
Justus is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Brinkley gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Brinkley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Brinkley lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Brinkley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Brinkley's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Brinkley is squirming around, avoiding Justus's attempts to control the action.
Justus is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brinkley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Justus is really struggling to control Brinkley but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Brinkley is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Jesse Brinkley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A nice leg kick lands there from Brinkley.
Justus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brinkley avoids it really well and circles away.
Justus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Justus takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Brinkley's corner calls for a 1-2. Brinkley obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Brinkley slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Brinkley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Justus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Brinkley cracks Justus with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brinkley tries to clinch there but Justus circles away.
Brinkley bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Justus's head backwards.

Brinkley lands with an overhand left.

Brinkley moves into the clinch.

Brinkley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Justus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Justus gets a takedown into half guard.
Justus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brinkley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brinkley wants to get back to his feet.
Justus is looking to stall here but Brinkley recovers full guard.
Justus wants to stand but Brinkley is controlling his posture from full guard.

Brinkley has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Justus off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
