Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Halberg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luiz Jose! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Halberg scores with a hook to the body. Jose takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Halberg scores with a takedown into Jose's guard. Jose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Halberg can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Halberg avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jose is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Halberg defends well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Halberg can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Halberg wants to stand but Jose is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jose working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Halberg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Halberg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jose looks gassed! Halberg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jose manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Halberg looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Halberg might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Halberg is trying to stand.
Jose trying to pass the guard but Halberg defending well. Jose wants to work for an arm triangle but Halberg is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Luiz Jose dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Halberg lands a jab to Jose's midsection. Jose misses with a takedown attempt and Halberg counters with a single leg into guard. Jose didn't expect that. Halberg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jose wants to hit a switch here but Halberg passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jose there! Jose working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Halberg controlling the pace for now. Jose is squirming around, avoiding Halberg's attempts to control the action. Jose working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jose slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Jose looking for submissions off his back. Jose is looking to improve his position.
Jose works his way to full guard. Good work. Jose working for a triangle but Halberg defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jose is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jose is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Halberg has his hands clasped together but Jose extends an breaks Halberg's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jose.
