The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maillet looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? MacAlpine is fending him off so far but Maillet persists. Nope, MacAlpine circles away and we're back to standing.
Maillet is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hamish MacAlpine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like JC Maillet has been cut.
MacAlpine connects with a solid leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
MacAlpine lands a jab to the head.

Maillet closes the distance and clinches.
Maillet wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
MacAlpine has Maillet pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Maillet manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
MacAlpine is pressed up against the cage. Maillet has hold of a leg and is looking to drag MacAlpine down to the mat. MacAlpine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Maillet swings for the body but MacAlpine moves out of range.
Maillet keeps the fight on the outside.
MacAlpine tries to score with a low kick but Maillet moves his leg out of the way.
Maillet tries to clinch but MacAlpine is having none of it.
MacAlpine cracks Maillet with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
MacAlpine cracks Maillet with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. MacAlpine has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maillet to stand back up!

Maillet is rocked!

Maillet is breathing heavily.
MacAlpine drops Maillet with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Maillet! MacAlpine dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
