Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Valencia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Talon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Valencia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Talon!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talon stuffs the takedown attempt from Valencia. Valencia gets slowly back to his feet.

Talon has managed to clinch.

Talon breaks the clinch.
Valencia misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Talon tries to clinch but Valencia moves out of range.

Talon has managed to clinch.
Valencia is looking to break free of the clinch but Talon has double underhooks.
Talon has Valencia pressed against the cage.
Valencia using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Talon has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Valencia tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Valencia looking to throw knees to the head but Talon is blocking nicely.
Valencia letting Talon take a breather here.
Talon tries to pull guard but Valencia won't allow it.
Talon will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Valencia up against the cage.
Talon is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Talon lands a takedown into guard.
Talon is looking to stand up but Valencia won't let him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Valencia being controlled here, momentarily.
Talon looking to sit in guard and control but Valencia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Talon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valencia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Talon looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Valencia puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Talon is trying to stand.
Talon wants to control but Valencia is keeping busy.

Talon desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Valencia looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Talon trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Talon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Valencia throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Talon dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Talon takes the fight into the clinch.
Valencia has Talon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Talon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Valencia tries to land knees in the clinch but Talon avoids the damage to the body.
Talon's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Talon crunches a lovely knee into Valencia's ribcage.
Talon has Valencia pressed against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Talon.
Talon stalling in the clinch.

Talon has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Valencia is trying to keep an underhook but Talon manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valencia is in trouble now - Talon has advanced to mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Valencia is desperately trying to improve his position but Talon has a good base and remains in mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Valencia is squirming around, avoiding Talon's attempts to control the action.
Talon looking to control and managing it successfully.
Valencia is trying to escape the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Talon controlling his opponent.

Let's hope that Talon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Talon trying to control but he's not successful this time.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Talon controlling the pace for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Despite being in the dominant position, Richard Talon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Talon tries to clinch up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Talon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Talon tries to clinch up but Valencia circles away and keeps his distance.
Valencia throws a series of punches but Talon avoids them all with ease.
Talon stuffs the takedown.

Talon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Valencia throws a knee to the head but misses.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Talon as Valencia tries to tie him up.
Valencia tries a knee to the head but Talon blocks it.

Talon gets control of Valencia's arms and successfully pulls guard. Talon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Valencia won't allow Talon to get back to his feet.
Talon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Valencia's guard.
Talon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Talon's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Talon gets to his feet - Valencia follows without any prompting.
Talon throws a head kick but Valencia moves out of range.
Talon lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Talon feints and as Valencia raises his hands in defense, Talon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Valencia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Talon is one step ahead there.
Talon looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Talon trying to control the position from guard on top but Valencia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Valencia throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Talon stops Valencia from standing up.
Valencia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Talon controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Valencia wants to stand and escape but Talon is having none of it.
Jay Valencia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Talon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Richard Talon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Talon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
