Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hex Manchester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Wilkins! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manchester closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wilkins did well to prevent Manchester getting side control. Manchester is trying to work for a kimura but Wilkins is defending well.
Manchester is working for a submission of some sort.
Manchester is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wilkins sees it coming and defends easily. Wilkins is not content to let Manchester control the position. Wilkins won't allow Manchester to pass to mount. Manchester is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wilkins has managed to free his arm - good work. Manchester is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wilkins sees it coming and defends easily. Manchester is breathing heavily. Manchester prevents Wilkins from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manchester stops Wilkins from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Manchester looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wilkins swinging wilding here.
Wilkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Manchester looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Manchester is looking to clinch but Wilkins is avoiding it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Manchester. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Manchester shoots in looking for a takedown. Wilkins tries to sprawl out of it but Manchester keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Wilkins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Wilkins scores with a three punch combo!
Wilkins throws a series of punches but Manchester moves out of range. Wilkins connects with a good right hand that stumbles Manchester. Manchester circles away out of range and recomposes himself. A jab from Wilkins finds it's way through Manchester's defenses. David Wilkins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wilkins moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Wilkins is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Manchester hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
