Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Wilde! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charlie Peters! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peters stalks Wilde and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Wilde's face. Wilde staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Will Wilde has been cut. Wilde closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Peters to the mat! Peters manages to get full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wilde is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wilde drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peters looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peters looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peters! Wilde taking punishment in the form of punches.
Wilde tries to bench press Peters off him but Peters keeps the position. Peters thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wilde could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Peters tries for a kimura but Wilde is defending well. Peters is looking for a kimura. Peters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilde swivels though and keeps the full guard. Peters thows a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilde has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Wilde is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Peters defends well. Wilde working for submissions but it's allowed Peters to get to half guard.
Wilde is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Peters is looking to take a break and control but Wilde is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Wilde is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Peters pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wilde looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Wilde looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Peters lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. No, Peters has managed to get both his arms back between Wilde's legs - danger averted. Wilde escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. That was a close second round but I would say that Will Wilde will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Will Wilde's cut. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wilde slaps away a takedown attempt from Peters, before circling back to the center of the mat. Will Wilde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wilde feints and as Peters raises his hands in defense, Wilde changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wilde is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Peters is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Peters has escaped and now he's on top! Wilde has his foot on Peters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peters works his way back into a safe position though. Peters wants to control from the top but Wilde keeps moving.

Wilde swings around for an armbar but Peters sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wilde's guard. Peters avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
