PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khun Rayn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Bundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bundy has chosen Bad to The Bone as his entrance music. The key to victory for Khun Rayn has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khun Rayn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Al Bundy!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bundy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bundy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rayn.
Bundy needs to keep his hands up - Rayn had a free shot at his head there.
Rayn digs a good body shot into Bundy's ribs.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rayn!
Rayn throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bundy takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rayn swings for the body but Bundy moves out of range.
Rayn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bundy moves away.
Rayn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bundy.
A telegraphed right hand from Rayn misses the target.
Khun Rayn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rayn catches Bundy with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Rayn lands a with a good body shot.

Bundy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rayn is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bundy has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Bundy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Rayn is trying to get back to his feet.
Rayn is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Rayn is pushing Bundy's head away, looking to escape. Bundy manages to hold on to the position though.
Bundy is putting a hurting on Rayn here, landing some big shots from side control.
Rayn managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bundy.

Bundy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rayn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rayn wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bundy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rayn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bundy avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bundy closes the distance and clinches up with Rayn, looking for a takedown. Bundy pushes Rayn against the cage but Rayn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rayn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bundy manages to avoid it.

Bundy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rayn pushes Bundy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bundy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ground and pound from Bundy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bundy tries to score with some ground and pound. Rayn controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Bundy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bundy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The strikes coming from Bundy are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Rayn bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Rayn looks to land a right hand but Bundy moved out of range.
Rayn wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rayn misses with a wild body shot.
Bundy dives in and grabs Rayn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rayn pushes down on Bundy's head and hops out.
Rayn throws out a loose jab but Bundy uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rayn throws a series of punches but Bundy avoids them all with ease.

Rayn loads up on a big right hand but Bundy slips the punch.
Rayn misses with a hook.
Rayn throws a hook but Bundy avoids it easily.
Rayn takes a swing at Bundy's ribcage but misses.

Bundy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Rayn kicks off Bundy and gets to his feet.
Bundy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rayn.
Rayn throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bundy on the side of the head.

Bundy slips a straight right by Rayn.
Rayn stuns Bundy with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Bundy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bundy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bundy shoots for a double leg takedown but Rayn sprawls well. He's pushed Bundy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rayn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Rayn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bundy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rayn throws a big shot that misses.
Bundy swats away the attempt to clinch by Rayn.
Rayn lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fighters circling - Rayn throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bundy blocks a jab.
Rayn scores with a jab. Bundy acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bundy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rayn sprawls well. Rayn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bundy gets slowly back to his feet.

Nice straight punches there by Rayn. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rayn.
Rayn leaves Bundy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rayn cracks Bundy with a good jab.
Rayn is looking to clinch.
Rayn misses with a hook.
Khun Rayn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rayn throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rayn connects with a right hand. Bundy shakes it off.
Rayn thows a body shot but no joy.
Bundy tries to move into range but Rayn moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Donk. Rayn catches Bundy right on the button with a cross.
Khun Rayn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bundy keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bundy fails with a takedown attempt.
Rayn lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

And that's the end of the fight!
Khun Rayn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bundy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
