PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hinds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Munden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hinds kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Back up by 12 Stones. Munden has chosen time of the season as his entrance music. Dave Munden has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Munden!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hinds connects with a looping right hand.
A head kick misses from Munden.

Hinds shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Munden is trying to defend but Hinds finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hinds moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Munden is trying to get back to half guard.

Hinds is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Munden is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Munden prevents Hinds from moving into mount.

Hinds thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hinds connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Munden some visible discomfort.

Hinds is trying to get an arm triangle but Munden is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Munden tries to buck Hinds off but Hinds is having none of it.
Munden sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hinds wants to free his trapped foot but Munden is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hinds is breathing heavily.
Munden is trying to get back to full guard.

Hinds looks to land a strike but Munden avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Munden is trying to keep Hinds in close.
Hinds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Munden is keeping the position for now.

Munden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hinds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Munden swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hinds is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Munden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hinds doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hinds manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Munden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hinds wants to clinch up but Munden keeps it at a distance.
Hinds shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Hinds. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hinds lands the left hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hinds shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Munden as he avoids it easily.

Munden will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hinds looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Munden is fending him off so far but Hinds persists. Nope, Munden circles away and we're back to standing.
Munden clobbers Hinds with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hinds slaps away a takedown attempt from Munden, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Munden fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Munden throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hinds sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Munden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hinds swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Munden shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hinds as he avoids it easily.
A bone on bone clash there as Munden blocks the leg kick.
Munden looks to land a combination but Hinds avoids it well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hinds.

Hinds walks into a left hand.
Hinds tries to score a power double leg takedown but Munden sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hinds somewhat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Munden is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hinds knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hinds tries to bench press Munden off him but Munden keeps the position.

Hinds sneaks back into half guard.
Munden wants to control but Hinds is keeping him busy.
Munden throwing shots but Hinds is blocking nicely.

Hinds is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Munden is aware though and is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hinds throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Munden wants to control from the top but Hinds keeps moving.
Hinds is striking off his back. Munden thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Munden postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hinds to stand up.

Hinds throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Munden was covering up waiting for the punch and Hinds finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Munden is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hinds defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Munden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Hinds changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Munden looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Munden parries the strikes from Hinds easily there. Hinds is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Munden to escape.
Munden is trying to improve his position.
Hinds tries to advance to mount but can't.
Munden struggling a bit here.

Hinds looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hinds goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Munden rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hinds's guard! Nice work there by Munden!

Hinds is looking to sweep but instead, Munden has passed into half guard.

Hinds trying to get back to full guard but Munden takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Hinds trying desperately to get to his feet.

Munden looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Hinds is in all sorts of trouble here.

Hinds is looking to get to half guard.
Hinds is working hard here to advance position.
Hinds wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Hinds tries to escape the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Munden is trying to stick to Hinds's back but Hinds is turning into Munden. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Munden's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hinds.
Hinds tries to free his leg and advance position but Munden is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hinds closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Munden to the mat! Munden manages to get full guard.
Hinds works over Munden with some ground and pound from guard.
Hinds trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Munden throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hinds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Munden swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jeff Hinds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Munden has momentary wrist control but Hinds slips an elbow through the middle.
Hinds passes Munden's left leg - he's now in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeff Hinds showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hinds has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
