Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cornelius Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juliano Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior has chosen Soulfly - Brasil as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cornelius Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juliano Junior! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez throws a push kick but Junior slaps the foot to one side. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mendez throws a nice looking combination but Junior bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Junior throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mendez was covering up waiting for the punch and Junior finishes the takedown easily into guard. Junior drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Junior jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Junior wants to pass the guard but Mendez is keeping the position. Mendez is looking to stand up but Junior isn't so interested in that idea. Junior has gone for a leg lock! Mendez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Junior's guard. Junior had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mendez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Junior Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mendez's back instead. Junior looking for the choke but no joy. Junior looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez holding both Junior 's hands and preventing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Mendez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Junior on the ground. Junior is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mendez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mendez is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Junior looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mendez tries to bum rush Junior with a series of wild strikes but Junior uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Junior decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mendez is defending against the submission attempts here by Junior.
Mendez is trying to stand up here but Junior is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Junior is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Junior passes to full mount! Mendez is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Junior is going olschool here, as he tries to force Mendez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mendez shrugs it off. Mendez wants to try and get back to his feet. Junior has control of Mendez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mendez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mendez is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Junior with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Junior blocks a head kick by Mendez.
Mendez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Junior. Mendez misses with a head kick.
Junior feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mendez wants to stand and escape but Junior is having none of it. Mendez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Junior stops Mendez from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez is trying to control the position but Junior postures up. Junior is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendez keeping full guard, as Junior tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Junior stops Mendez from standing up. Mendez working a defensive guard here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Junior fails with a takedown attempt. Some wild striking there from Mendez.
Junior closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mendez to the mat! Mendez manages to get full guard. Mendez wants to get back to his feet but Junior is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Junior pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mendez is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Junior has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mendez defend it? Junior steps over the head and cranks it - Mendez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Junior!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Juliano Junior!
