Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raul Gonzalez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Abbot! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez tries for a takedown but Abbot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gonzalez looks for a takedown but Abbot sprawls well. Abbot throws a right hand that Gonzalez ducks under and follows up with a left that Gonzalez also avoids with ease. Danga de danga de dang - Abbot scores with a four punch combination! Gonzalez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbot circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raul Gonzalez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Decent striking displayed by Abbot there. Abbot misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Abbot connects with a body shot. Gonzalez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Good work by Gonzalez as he checks the leg kick. Gonzalez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Abbot is trying to stand.
Abbot kicks off Gonzalez and gets to his feet. Gonzalez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abbot swivels and escapes. Gonzalez is breathing heavily. Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Abbot as he jumps to the side. Frank Abbot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abbot scores with a punch to the head. Abbot throws a series of strikes that have Gonzalez backpedaling.
It looks like Raul Gonzalez has been cut. Abbot defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gonzalez.
That's one minute gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Abbot. Abbot lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gonzalez circles away quickly and effectively. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Abbot!
Gonzalez gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Abbot dances in with a quick combination. Gonzalez is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Abbot snaps Gonzalez's head back. Gonzalez stumbles backwards against the cage. Abbot steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Gonzalez's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Gonzalez just didn't come prepared.
