Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Tony! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Canseco ! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Canseco . Tony misses with a body kick. Canseco tries to clinch there but Tony circles away.
Canseco fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Canseco wants to clinch up but Tony keeps it at a distance. Tony lands an overhand right.
It looks like Jose Canseco has been cut. Jab, jab by Tony - just one landing. Canseco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tony was covering up waiting for the punch and Canseco finishes the takedown easily into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tony tries to strike from the bottom.
Tony is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Canseco is aware though and is defending well. Canseco stopping the sweep attempt from Tony. Tony is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Canseco tries to get to full guard but Tony has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tony decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Canseco uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tony. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Canseco is defended easily by Tony. James Tony has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Canseco . Canseco looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Tony circles away from the clinch attempt.
Canseco shoots in looking for a takedown. Tony tries to sprawl out of it but Canseco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tony manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Canseco takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Tony lands with a slapping head kick. Canseco moves in looking to clinch but Tony pushes him off. Horrible takedown by Canseco or perhaps it was just good defense by Tony which made him look bad. Canseco looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tony dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Canseco with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Tony to score with a decent uppercut. Tony scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Tony throws a left that rocks Canseco and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Tony dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Canseco regain composure!
Canseco is rocked! Tony has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tony lands a few punches from side control. Canseco is still in real trouble! Can Tony finish him? Tony will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Canseco gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Canseco seems to have recovered his senses. Tony fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That has opened up Jose Canseco 's cut even more. Canseco tries to reverse the position but Tony maintains control. Tony can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Canseco is looking to escape. Canseco really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canseco swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Tony with a couple of short strikes. Tony looking to finish Canseco with some ground and pound. This is bad for Canseco ! Tony is landing with some decent strikes but Canseco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tony content just to control the position here. Canseco is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Tony can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Canseco is looking to escape. Canseco defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tony.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tony lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Canseco is in all sorts of trouble here.
Tony lands a big shot there that rocks Canseco but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Tony lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Tony dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jose Canseco 's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Canseco tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tony sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Canseco somewhat. Tony shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Canseco wants to improve his position but Tony is controlling well.

Canseco is looking for a sweep. Tony is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. James Tony overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Canseco is trying to control but Tony manages to pass to mount!
Canseco tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tony tries to control but Canseco wriggling away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tony jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Canseco manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canseco parries the strikes from Tony easily there. Tony is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Canseco to escape.
Canseco regains half guard. Tony prevents Canseco from improving his position. Canseco is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Tony looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tony is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Canseco can do to turn this around? Tony takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Canseco works his way to full guard. Good work. Canseco wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Canseco pulls Tony in to control the position. Canseco wants to stand up but Tony is controlling him. Canseco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tony's guard. Canseco stopping the sweep attempt from Tony. Tony working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Canseco . And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Tony dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jose Canseco 's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Tony fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Canseco . A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Canseco . Tony connects with a good right hand that stumbles Canseco . Canseco circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Canseco moves forwards but Tony connects with a nice, crisp jab. Jose Canseco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Canseco shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Tony to counter with a crisp jab. Tony scores with a sloppy right hand. Canseco should have avoided that one. Canseco tries for a takedown but Tony circles away easily and Tony counters with a nice uppercut. James Tony has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Canseco . The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tony throws a head kick but Canseco moves out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Tony.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Canseco takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Tony moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tony, right into the meat.
Tony connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Canseco 's hands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tony scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Tony!

Jose Canseco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tony connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. A left lands for Tony. Canseco wants to clinch but Tony slips to the side and Tony counters with a nice body kick. Tony swings away with a leg kick that misses. A head kick misses from Tony. Canseco shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Canseco gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Canseco showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tony.
The fight stays on the outside here - Canseco looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tony motions for Canseco to come forward. Tony throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Canseco tries to clinch but Tony moves away and Tony counters with a head kick. That will keep Canseco thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Canseco stuffs the takedown attempt from Tony. Tony gets slowly back to his feet. Canseco looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tony is fending him off so far but Canseco persists. Nope, Tony circles away and we're back to standing. Tony misses with a straight left. Tony takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Canseco tries to clinch but Tony moves out of range. Tony scores with a push kick. Canseco throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Canseco shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tony counters with a left and a right that stings Canseco .
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canseco has his takedown stuffed and Tony counters with a low kick, right behind Canseco 's knee. Tony shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Canseco 's guard. Tony trying to control the position from guard on top but Canseco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Canseco looking for a sweep. Not yet Canseco , not yet. Tony throwing strikes but missing. Canseco wants to improve his position but instead Tony has moved into half guard.
Jose Canseco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tony working the head and body with strikes. Canseco is defending against the submission attempts here by Tony.
Tony wants to free his trapped foot but Canseco is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tony circles away from the clinch attempt and Tony counters with a nice uppercut. James Tony is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tony keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Tony catches Canseco with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Canseco is looking to clinch. Canseco takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tony scores with a push kick. Canseco fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tony manages to avoid it. Canseco pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tony scores with a sloppy right hand. Canseco should have avoided that one.
And that's the end of the fight! James Tony showed his dominance in that final round. Well Tony has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
