The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago fails with the takedown. Santiago shoots in for a double leg but Garnett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Garnett misses with a double jab.
Garnett fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A combination from Garnett does no damage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Santiago is defended easily by Garnett. Kelvin Garnett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Correa Santiago. Garnett misses with a double jab.
Santiago tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Santiago avoids a punch combination nicely.
Santiago tries to clinch up. Santiago closes the distance and clinches up with Garnett, looking for a takedown. Santiago pushes Garnett against the cage but Garnett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Garnett misses with a wild body shot. Santiago shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Garnett pinned against the cage. Garnett gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Garnett throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Santiago.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garnett misses with a jab, cross combination.
Garnett connects with the punch. A jab from Garnett does it's job there. Garnett lands a really nice looking cross but Santiago seems unphased.
Santiago looks gassed! Garnett lands a left and a right that send Santiago crashing to the mat, dazed. Garnett thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Santiago is rocked!
It looks like Correa Santiago has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Garnett closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Santiago out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
