Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Shears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nolan Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shears's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sackett comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bad To the Bone kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shears is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sackett is just riding it out for now. Shears eventually gives up the hold.

Shears had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sackett is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Shears Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sackett's back instead.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Shears throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sackett was covering up waiting for the punch and Shears finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Sackett takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sackett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shears.

and Shears counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sackett's guard now.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Shears.
Well Sackett has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
