The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volchenkov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Magomaev keeps the fight on the outside.
Magomaev circles away from the clinch attempt.
Magomaev moves out of range of the body kick from Volchenkov.
Magomaev blocks a head kick by Volchenkov.

Magomaev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Volchenkov to the mat! Volchenkov manages to get full guard.
Volchenkov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Volchenkov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Magomaev wants to pass the guard but Volchenkov is keeping the position.

Magomaev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Volchenkov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Magomaev has Volchenkov in his guard.
Volchenkov stands up over Magomaev, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Volchenkov wants to control from the top but Magomaev keeps moving.
Volchenkov wants to pass the guard but Magomaev is keeping the position.

Magomaev working for submissions but it's allowed Volchenkov to get to half guard.

Magomaev is staying active underneath Volchenkov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Volchenkov slips a nice elbow through Magomaev's hands, connecting with Magomaev's forehead.

Volchenkov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Magomaev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Volchenkov.

Volchenkov wants to control from the top but Magomaev keeps moving.
Volchenkov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

It looks like Muslim Magomaev has been cut.
Magomaev is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Volchenkov unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Magomaev wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Volchenkov celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
