Antonis Papageorgiou struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Papageorgiou gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Papageorgiou looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Papageorgiou trying to control the position from guard on top but Simpson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Simpson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Papageorgiou off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Simpson counters with a single leg into guard. Papageorgiou didn't expect that.

Simpson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Simpson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Simpson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Papageorgiou defends it well.
Papageorgiou wants to get back to his feet.
Simpson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Simpson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Papageorgiou does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Papageorgiou tries for a takedown but Simpson circles away easily

so Simpson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Papageorgiou wants to sweep here but Simpson controlling him for the moment.
Simpson wants to control from the top but Papageorgiou keeps moving.

Papageorgiou might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Simpson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Papageorgiou wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Simpson has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Papageorgiou's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh!
