Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scaredy McScared (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Whissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whissell is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rose Of Sharon. On his way into the cage it seems that Scaredy McScared has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Scaredy McScared seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scaredy McScared!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, George Whissell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McScared drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McScared working away.
McScared tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Whissell tries to escape but McScared is in control.
Whissell on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
McScared creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Whissell sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Whissell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
McScared is trying to get back to full guard.
Whissell tries to pass the half guard into mount. McScared knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Whissell lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McScared is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whissell wants to stand up but McScared is controlling the position.

McScared looking for submissions off his back.
Whissell drops an elbow to the side of McScared's head.
Whissell takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Whissell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Whissell slips a nice elbow through McScared's hands, connecting with McScared's forehead.
McScared gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McScared is working an open guard so Whissell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
McScared tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Whissell swivels and escapes.
Whissell throws a jab when McScared was well out of range.
Whissell connects with a good right hand that stumbles McScared. McScared circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A big left from Whissell misses.

McScared on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nice sprawl there from Whissell as McScared shoots in.
Whissell misses with an uppercut. McScared saw that one coming.
Whissell thows a left - swing and a miss!
McScared slips a jab from Whissell.

Whissell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McScared.
McScared avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Whissell misses the jab.

Whissell works McScared's body with a nice hook.
Whissell dips to his left and cracks McScared with an uppercut!
McScared moves away from the strike by Whissell.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McScared.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scaredy McScared. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Whissell leaves McScared with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McScared checks the leg kick nicely there.
Whissell misses with a body shot.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McScared breaks the clinch.
Whissell looks to land a left hand but McScared moved out of range nicely.
Whissell might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

McScared drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Whissell is trying to keep McScared in close.
McScared wants to control from the top but Whissell keeps moving.

McScared has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Whissell to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! McScared is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Whissell pulls down on the head and he's put McScared to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). George Whissell!
