Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pat Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Headden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes to the cage accompanied by Walk with me in hell. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Headden! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hughes. Headden swats away the attempt to clinch by Hughes. Hughes is looking to clinch. Hughes doesn't manage to clinch there - Headden circles away.
Pat Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hughes clinches with his opponent.

Headden wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Headden has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hughes avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Headden tries to pull guard but Hughes holds him up against the cage and eventually Headden drops back down to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Headden wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hughes has him pressed against the cage. Hughes prevents Headden from breaking the clinch. Headden changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hughes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Headden rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hughes moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Hughes looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hughes wants to clinch up but Headden keeps it at a distance. Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch but Headden swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hughes forces Headden back against the cage and clinches. Headden wants to break free but Hughes has control.

Hughes tries to bum rush Headden with a series of wild strikes but Headden uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Headden throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily. Hughes fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Headden on the ground. Headden tries to land a sweep but no joy. Headden looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hughes has picked Headden up and slammed him! Headden can't keep hold of the triangle and Hughes manages to pass to side control! Headden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Headden is looking to reverse the position. Hughes controlling the position. Headden is looking to regain half guard here but Hughes keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Headden is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hughes is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Hughes sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Headden working to try and regain half guard.
Headden tries to improve his position but instead Hughes has taken his back! Headden turns into Hughes and is now in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Headden looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hughes works his way to full guard. Good work. Hughes controlling the position. Headden in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Headden thows a big elbow that misses. Hughes looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hughes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Headden feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hughes wants to get back to his feet but Headden is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hughes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Steve Headden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Headden tries to free his leg and advance position but Hughes is retaining full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Steve Headden. I think Hughes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
