PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Houser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Houser comes into the arena with Hackensaw Boys-Keep it simple blaring out of the sound system. Gracie has chosen Powerman 5000 - Drop The Bombshell as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie moves away from the strike by Houser.
A slow jab from Houser misses its intended target.
Gracie looks to land a right hand but Houser moved out of range.
Gracie misses with a wild body shot.
Houser slips under a jab from Gracie.

Houser's corner calls for a 1-2. Houser obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Houser throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie lands a slapping body shot.

Houser misses the shot to the body.
Gracie throws a looping overhand right but Houser ducks down to avoid it.

Houser throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Houser looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.
Houser misses with a looping right.
Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Houser pushes him off.
Gracie throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Houser tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gracie throws a hook to the side of Houser's head but Houser sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Houser just misses with a punch to the body.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Houser pinned against the cage. Houser gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gracie shoots for a takedown but Houser saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Houser walks into a straight right hand from Gracie.

Gracie scores a takedown into full mount!
Gracie throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Houser because Gracie loaded up on that one.
Houser is in all sorts of trouble here.

Gracie has control of Houser's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Houser regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Gracie throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Houser is in all sorts of trouble here.
Houser wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Houser is bucking up trying to escape but Gracie cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Houser is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.

Houser tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Gracie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Houser has worked his arm free - good work by Houser!

Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Houser's head.
Houser is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Houser has Gracie pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Houser looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Houser looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Houser!

Xavier Gracie dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Houser sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Houser misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Houser connects with the punch.
Houser comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Houser scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Houser scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.
Houser lands a glancing blow to the side of Gracie's head.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Houser misses with a double jab.
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Houser takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Houser lands a with a good body shot.
Gracie on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Houser lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Houser throws a right and a left that both miss.

Houser shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Houser sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Houser lands a big shot there that rocks Gracie but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Houser get's back to his feet.
Houser misses with a straight left.
Houser lands a head shot.
Houser slips a straight right by Gracie.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's time! Houser's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Houser wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Houser is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

Xavier Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Houser lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Houser is just content to waste time from the top position. Gracie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
