PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Geison Horz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Seek n Strike as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Geison Horz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Miller!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Horz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miller somewhat.
Miller throws a head kick that misses.
Horz wants to clinch.

Horz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Miller looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Horz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Miller drops Horz with a beautiful combination! Horz stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Miller is looking for the KO!


Horz is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Horz gets a clinch.
Horz gets underhooks to prevent Miller's takedown attempt.

Horz is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Miller can't fight it off and eventually Horz manages to take the fight to the floor. Miller looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Horz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Miller utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Horz trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Horz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Miller wants to stand and escape but Horz is having none of it.
Horz advances to half guard.
Horz working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Miller's thigh. Miller counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Horz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Horz is stalling in the full guard.

Horz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Miller throws the kick towards the body but Horz avoids it.
Miller wants to clinch

and Horz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Miller won't be happy with that.
Miller looks gassed!

Horz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Miller knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Horz stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horz moves out of range of the body kick from Miller.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geison Horz dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Miller throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Miller. Horz shrugs it off though.

and Horz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Miller!
Horz misses with a head shot.
Miller is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Horz with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Miller tries to hold on but Horz postures up.
Horz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miller is looking to escape.
Miller blocking the ground and pound.

Horz is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Miller has managed to escape the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Horz thowing shots but they're missing.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Horz looking to control but Miller is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Horz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Horz trying to control but Miller is having none of it.
Horz connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geison Horz dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Horz feints and as Miller raises his hands in defense, Horz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Horz wants to stand but Miller is controlling his posture from full guard.
Horz won't allow Miller to get back to his feet.
Horz lands a couple of digs.
Horz passes Miller's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Miller is staying active underneath Horz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Horz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Miller is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Horz thows a huge punch but Miller dodges it nicely.
Horz is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Horz is looking to stall here but Miller recovers full guard.
Horz thows a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Horz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Miller wants to get back to his feet.
Horz is staying tight to Miller's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Horz is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Horz decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geison Horz clearly takes that round.
That's time! Horz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Miller misses with a body kick.
Geison Horz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horz shoots in and drives through. Miller sprawls well.
Miller throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Horz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Horz is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Horz throws a strike but Miller avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Horz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Horz stands up and waves to Miller to follow him.
Miller looks for a takedown but Horz sprawls well.
Horz's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Horz duly obliges.


It looks like Ken Miller has been cut.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Horz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Horz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Horz showed some decent athleticism there.
Miller wants to get back to his feet.
Miller keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Horz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Miller's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Horz connects with a nice short shot to Miller's temple.

Horz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Miller defending well though.
Horz content to control rather than advance.
Miller is trying to stand back up but Horz is controlling him
Horz wants to control but Miller is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Miller tries for a takedown but Horz circles away easily
and Horz counters with a flying knee. Nice.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Horz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


A slapping body kick lands there for Miller.
Miller throws a right and a left that Horz avoids nicely.

and Horz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Horz looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Horz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Horz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Miller!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Horz won't let Miller get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
BOOM! Horz connects with a massive shot to the dome!

A nice elbow there by Horz.
Horz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Miller is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Horz lands a big elbow.
Miller is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.

Horz lands with some strikes.

Miller tries to improve his position but Horz has taken his back! Horz has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Miller tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Horz pushes Miller away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Geison Horz!
