Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gene Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Mota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Mota's choice of entrance music: Rock Superstar. Pablo Mota has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gene Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Mota!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mota sprawls well. Mota wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.
Mir closes the distance and clinches up with Mota, looking for a takedown. Mir pushes Mota against the cage but Mota circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mota fails to land with a series of punches.
Mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mota is fending him off so far but Mir persists. Nope, Mota circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gene Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mota throws a nice looking combination but Mir bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Mota.
Mota prevents a takedown attempt there.

Gene Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mota shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Oh Mir is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mota decides to stand and escape the position.
Mir seems to have got his legs back now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Mota counters with a low kick, right behind Mir 's knee.

Mota tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mota throws a combination. Mir tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Mota rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mir moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mota gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Mota gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Mota decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mir, up you get!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mota wants to control the pace but Mir is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mota has hold of Mir's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mir manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mir has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mota looks to land a combination but Mir avoids it well.

Mota is landing with some decent strikes but Mir is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Mota postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mir looks a forlorn figure.

Mota is working for a guillotine from mount but Mir frees his head quite easily.
Mota has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mir's face.

Mir wants to hold on but Mota pushes him away.
Mota controlling the pace for now.
Mota wants to control the pace but Mir is squirming around nicely.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pablo Mota just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mota has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mir clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Mir is covering up but some of the strikes from Mota are getting through and doing damage.

Mota is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Mota gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Mota gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Mota apologises and we restart here on the feet.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mir. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Mota looks to land a combination. Mir sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
A left and a right from Mota both land. Nice combination.
Mota moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Mota has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mota will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pablo Mota showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mota has Mir pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mota pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mir tumbling to the mat - Mota dives into Mir's guard.

Mota lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mir backs up against the cage.
Mota lands with a slapping head kick.
Mir takes a kick to the side of the head.
A combination from Mota does no damage.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mota. Mir shrugs it off though.

Mota throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mota feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mota takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mota has hold of one of Mir's legs. Mir is fighting the takedown attempt but Mota gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mota has picked Mir up - he's going for a ride! Mota dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Pablo Mota comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mota has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
