Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hidetoshi Nakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Swick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Hidetoshi Nakata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Swick!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Swick does no damage.
Swick avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nakata dives in and grabs Swick's left leg, looking for a takedown. Swick pushes down on Nakata's head and hops out.
Swick stalks Nakata and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nakata's face. Nakata staggers backwards, shaken.
Nakata tries to clinch but Swick moves out of range.
Nakata shoots in for a double leg but Swick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Swick circles away from the clinch attempt.
Swick goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Swick lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nakata at a distance.

The fight stays on the outside here - Nakata looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Swick lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Swick.

Swick throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nakata shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Swick sprawls well. Swick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nakata gets slowly back to his feet.

Nakata closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Swick is not content to let Nakata control the position.
Swick wants to get back to his feet.

Swick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nakata controlling the action here.
Nakata wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swick keeps working.
Nakata wants to free his trapped foot but Swick is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Swick misses with an uppercut. Nakata saw that one coming.
Good leg kick by Swick there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Swick stuffs the takedown.

Swick throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakata.

Jake Swick is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nakata tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Swick lands a jab to Nakata's midsection.

Nakata takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Swick throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakata.
Nakata fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nakata dodges the punch combination from Swick.
Swick lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nakata circles away quickly and effectively.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Swick avoids the head kick by Nakata.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Swick lands with a shot to the body.
Nakata shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swick pinned against the cage. Swick gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nakata throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Swick's waist but Swick gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nakata off to one side.

Nakata wants to get back to striking at distance but Swick won't allow it.

Swick ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Swick no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Swick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nakata.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on Swick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Jake Swick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
