The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizzuto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gardner swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rizzuto looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Rizzuto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gardner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rizzuto somewhat.

Gardner manages to pull guard.
Rizzuto would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Rizzuto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gardner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rizzuto looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rizzuto throws a right and a left that Gardner avoids nicely.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gardner.
Gardner throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Gardner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rizzuto's waist but Rizzuto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gardner off to one side.

Rizzuto throws a combination. Gardner tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Rizzuto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gardner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
