The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tumilue closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Nitiguchi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tumilue counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Nitiguchi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tumilue can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nitiguchi had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tumilue is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nitiguchi Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tumilue's back instead.

Nitiguchi's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Tumilue can't control as he wanted to and Nitiguchi manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Tumilue decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nitiguchi's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tumilue has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nitiguchi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tumilue.

Dario Nitiguchi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nitiguchi creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tumilue sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
