Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bear McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wallace rushes McKenzie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McKenzie tries to pull guard but Wallace won't allow it.
Wallace stops a takedown attempt from McKenzie.
Wallace gets underhooks to prevent McKenzie's takedown attempt.
Billy Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bear McKenzie.

McKenzie is working an open guard so Wallace takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

It looks like Bear McKenzie has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKenzie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wallace can pounce on him.
Wallace misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McKenzie tries to bum rush Wallace with a series of wild strikes but Wallace uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wallace takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Wallace has McKenzie up against the cage in a clinch.
Wallace effectively controlling the action here.
McKenzie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wallace just stands there and leans against the cage.

Wallace is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McKenzie can't fight it off and eventually Wallace manages to take the fight to the floor. McKenzie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McKenzie is trying to hold Wallace in close to prevent damage but Wallace has managed to pass into half guard.

Wallace stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows McKenzie to get to his feet.

McKenzie throws a nice looking combination but Wallace bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
McKenzie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McKenzie takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wallace lands a nice hook to McKenzie's body. McKenzie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wallace lands a nice leg kick that just misses McKenzie's sensitive parts.

Wallace clinches up with McKenzie and pushes him back against the cage.

Wallace breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McKenzie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Billy Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wallace feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McKenzie's calf.

Wallace closes the distance and pushes McKenzie back into the cage.
McKenzie wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
McKenzie is trying to drag Wallace to the mat but Wallace just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Wallace breaks from the clinch.

McKenzie is breathing heavily.
McKenzie tries for a takedown. No joy.

Wallace is trying to trip McKenzie. He has hold of a leg but McKenzie is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wallace persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Wallace decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wallace takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Wallace fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McKenzie, pushing him back against the cage.
McKenzie tries to score a body lock takedown but Wallace shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
McKenzie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wallace smiles and moves away.

Wallace lands a body shot.

Wallace's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wallace throws a series of punches but McKenzie moves out of range.

Wallace darts in and clinches McKenzie up against the cage.

Wallace escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

McKenzie keeps the fight on the outside.

Wallace is looking to wear down McKenzie with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Wallace counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
McKenzie tries to pull guard but Wallace holds him up against the cage and eventually McKenzie drops back down to his feet.

McKenzie jumps guard but Wallace stands there with McKenzie around his waist. McKenzie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wallace has clasped his hands together around McKenzie's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

McKenzie pushes Wallace away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wallace gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McKenzie is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wallace off and has taken his back!

McKenzie tries to get the hooks in deep but Wallace pushed the leg off.

Wallace wriggles onto his back under a barage of strikes.
Wallace tries to buck McKenzie off but he can't manage it.
McKenzie looking to ground and pound but Wallace is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKenzie thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

McKenzie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wallace is now in McKenzie's guard. A big mistake from McKenzie there, giving up the dominant position!
McKenzie is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wallace would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
McKenzie has momentary wrist control but Wallace slips an elbow through the middle.
Billy Wallace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McKenzie controls Wallace momentarily but Wallace frees himself.
McKenzie wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Wallace is now in half guard.
McKenzie trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Wallace manages to pass to mount!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McKenzie wants to hold on but Wallace pushes him away.
Wallace controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Billy Wallace is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wallace seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McKenzie for as long as he can get away with.

Well Wallace has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
