Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Foul Play (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Play's entrance music is Simon Says-Pharaohe Monche. A fine choice. David comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bring The Pain kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Xavier David was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Foul Play!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier David!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Play throws a chopping leg kick but David manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Play fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but David is out of range.
David misses with a takedown attempt - Play sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Play tries to bum rush David with a series of wild strikes but David uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Play misses with an uppercut.
Play fakes high and swings low for a body shot but David manages to avoid it.
Play misses with a hook. David ducked under it nicely.

David closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Play to the mat! Play manages to get full guard.
Play wants to stand up but David is controlling him.
Play wants to sweep but no luck.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells David's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Play is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst David is controlling him.

Play has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but David can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Play throws a lazy right hand but David sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Play looks to land a left hand but David moved out of range nicely.

and David counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Play's guard now.

David shoots in looking for a takedown. Play tries to sprawl out of it but David keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Play manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Play feints and then cracks David's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow David down.

David bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Play gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Play sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
David is taking a breather. Play says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

David looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Play with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Foul Play will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Play bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in David's guard.
