Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joonas Niemi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Negro Negao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Negao has chosen MC Fagner Pinheiro - Gata Da Favela as his entrance music. Joonas Niemi had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Negao shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Niemi as he jumps to the side.
Niemi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Niemi clinches with his opponent.
Negao goes for a takedown attempt but Niemi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Joonas Niemi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Negro Negao.
Niemi looks to land a body kick but Negao moved away.
Niemi instigates a clinch.
Niemi lands a knee to the body.
Negao goes for a takedown in the clinch but Niemi prevents it.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Niemi.
Negao tries to score a body lock takedown but Niemi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Niemi lands a body punch.
Niemi lands an elbow just above Negao 's eye.
Negao is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Niemi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Negao is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Negao pulls Niemi into guard.
Niemi is looking to stand up but Negao won't let him.
Negao is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Niemi stands and steps away. Negao gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Niemi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Niemi wanted to stand there but Negao had control of the position.
Niemi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Negao looking for a sweep. Not yet Negao, not yet.

Negao has a closed guard, preventing Niemi from standing up.
Niemi wants to pass the guard but Negao is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Negao can do anything to dispel that myth.
Niemi wants to stand but Negao has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Niemi is looking to clinch.
Niemi with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Negao throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Niemi's waist but Niemi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Negao off to one side.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Niemi.
Niemi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Negao moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Negao looks for a takedown but Niemi sprawls well.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Niemi tries to clinch there but Negao circles away.
Niemi missing with a left hand there. Negao was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Negao closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Negao lands in his opponent's guard.
Negao trying to control but Niemi is working from the bottom.
Negao gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Negao tries for a takedown but Niemi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Niemi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Niemi is rocked!
Negao circles away from the clinch attempt.
Oh Niemi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Negao looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Negao cracks Niemi with a solid left hand.
Niemi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Joonas Niemi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Niemi tries to clinch up.
Niemi throws the kick towards the body but Negao avoids it.
Niemi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Negao looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Niemi decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Niemi tries to bum rush Negao with a series of wild strikes but Negao uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Niemi clinches up against the cage.
Niemi seems to have got his legs back now.
Niemi lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Niemi passes the guard and advances to mount!
Niemi postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Negao badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Niemi around the waist but Niemi pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Niemi is the winner by TKO! Niemi jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joonas Niemi!
