Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Buddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Scotch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Buddy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Scotch's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Buddy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Scotch!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scotch throws a head kick but Buddy moves out of range.
Buddy shoots for a double leg takedown but Scotch sprawls well. He's pushed Buddy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Scotch lands a head kick. Buddy smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Buddy walks into a left hand.
Buddy moves out of range as Scotch strikes.
Scotch pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Scotch pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Scotch throws a head kick that Buddy semi-blocks.
A head kick misses from Scotch.
Scotch bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Scotch tries a head kick but it misses.
Scotch throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Scotch misses with a looping left.

Scotch throws a sloppy head kick and Buddy moves out of range easily.
Scotch tries to bum rush Buddy with a series of wild strikes but Buddy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Scotch throws a head kick that misses.
Scotch throws out a loose jab but Buddy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scotch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Buddy takes a kick to the side of the head.
Scotch sizes up Buddy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Scotch throws a head kick that misses.
Scotch tries a head kick but it misses.
Buddy moves out of range of the strikes.
Scotch lands with a cross.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Scotch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Buddy wants to control from the top but Scotch keeps moving.
Buddy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Scotch pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Buddy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scotch to the mat! Scotch manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buddy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Buddy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Scotch's guard.

Scotch has momentary wrist control but Buddy slips an elbow through the middle.

Scotch wants to stand up but Buddy is controlling him.

Scotch keeping moving, preventing Buddy from controlling successfully.
Buddy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scotch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scotch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Buddy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Buddy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Robert Buddy will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Buddy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scotch sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Buddy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Scotch pushes Buddy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Buddy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Buddy misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Buddy tries to score with some ground and pound. Scotch controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Buddy throwing strikes but Scotch manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buddy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Scotch off and has taken his back!
Buddy lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Buddy.
Even with his hooks in, Buddy manages to miss with strikes from the back.

I would not like to be Scotch right now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Buddy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
