Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walt Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maynard Keenan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keenan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rusty Cage by SOUNDGARDEN. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Walt Kowalski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maynard Keenan! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalski scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Keenan struggling a bit here. Kowalski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. You can see the frustration on Keenan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Keenan tries to bench press Kowalski off him but Kowalski keeps the position. Kowalski sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Keenan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kowalski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Keenan has escaped the position, nice work there. Kowalski is trying to get an arm triangle but Keenan is defending well. Kowalski is working away from the top position though. Keenan looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Keenan actively working from the bottom here. Kowalski is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Keenan wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kowalski is pressing down on Keenan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Keenan is holding on for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kowalski circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kowalski shoots in and drives through. Keenan sprawls well. Keenan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kowalski.
Kowalski is breathing heavily. Keenan tries to clinch but Kowalski is having none of it. Keenan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Keenan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Keenan missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kowalski gets back to full guard.
Keenan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Keenan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kowalski isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Keenan stacks Kowalski on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Keenan! Keenan looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kowalski is avoiding damage well.
Keenan misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kowalski dodges the ground and pound from Keenan. Keenan working the head and body with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kowalski tries to buck Keenan off but Keenan is having none of it. Kowalski sneaks back into half guard.

Kowalski looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Keenan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kowalski's head. Keenan throwing shots but Kowalski is blocking nicely. Kowalski tries to get to full guard but Keenan has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Walt Kowalski will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Keenan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Keenan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Keenan working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Kowalski had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Keenan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kowalski Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Keenan's back instead. Keenan defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Kowalski doesn't have the hooks in and Keenan manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Keenan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kowalski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Keenan has managed to get both his arms back between Kowalski's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Keenan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Keenan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Keenan tries to pass to full mount but Kowalski defends it. Keenan scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Kowalski looking for submissions off his back. Keenan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Maynard Keenan has got the better of the ground game so far. Keenan scoring with strikes to the body and head. Kowalski trying to hold on to Keenan's head to control him but Keenan postures up.
Keenan is trying to control. Kowalski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Keenan thows a huge punch but Kowalski dodges it nicely.
Kowalski gets full guard. Kowalski had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Keenan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kowalski Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Keenan's back instead. Kowalski avoiding Keenan 's attempts to control his hands. Kowalski has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Keenan has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Kowalski looking for the choke but no joy. Keenan breaks Kowalski's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Keenan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Keenan gets to his feet. Kowalski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Keenan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kowalski paws at him with a jab and circles away. Keenan clinches up with Kowalski and pushes him back against the cage. Keenan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kowalski's defenses. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Kowalski fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Keenan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Some wild striking there from Keenan.
Kowalski shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Keenan is trying to defend but Kowalski finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maynard Keenan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Keenan lands a good elbow from the bottom. Keenan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kowalski defends well. Kowalski passes easily into side control. Nice work. Keenan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kowalski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Keenan wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Kowalski has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Keenan's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Keenan is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Kowalski!
