The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Maia swivels and escapes.
Savage tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Savage shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maia as he avoids it easily.
Savage shoots in looking for a takedown. Maia tries to sprawl out of it but Savage keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
D Maia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corey Savage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Maia counters with a nice double leg into side control. Savage won't be happy with that.

Maia is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Savage looks calm but he's in trouble here. Maia gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Savage is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Maia lets go of the hold and Savage can pop his arm back in it's socket.
