Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andries Van Tijn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihiro Ono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ono has chosen TNT as his entrance music. Andries Van Tijn has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andries Van Tijn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akihiro Ono!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ono has managed to clinch.

Van Tijn pulls guard.
Ono wants to stand but Van Tijn is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ono's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ono is looking to stand up but Van Tijn won't let him.

Ono tries to pass to full mount but Van Tijn defends it.
Ono is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ono is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Van Tijn tries to roll over but Ono keeps him under control.

Ono stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Van Tijn to get to his feet.

and Ono counters with an inside leg kick.

and Van Tijn finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Van Tijn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ono is fending him off so far but Van Tijn persists. Nope, Ono circles away and we're back to standing.

and Ono counters with a three punch combo that has Van Tijn backing up. Van Tijn nods at Ono to acknowledge the strikes.
Van Tijn is breathing heavily.
Ono connects with a solid leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ono is looking to clinch but Van Tijn is avoiding it.
Ono tries to land a leg kick but Van Tijn saw it coming and moves away.
Ono tries to close the distance and clinch up but Van Tijn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ono counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Van Tijn!

Ono controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akihiro Ono dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Van Tijn swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Ono darts in and clinches Van Tijn up against the cage.

Van Tijn throws a nice inside leg kick.
Van Tijn wants to clinch but Ono slips to the side
and Ono counters with a leg kick.

Ono wants to break free but Van Tijn has control.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ono drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Van Tijn gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ono lands an elbow inside.
Ono creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ono lands an elbow that stopped Van Tijn in his tracks for a moment.
Ono tries a knee to the head but Van Tijn blocks it.
Ono with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Van Tijn pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Van Tijn gets underhooks to prevent Ono's takedown attempt.
Andries Van Tijn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akihiro Ono.
Ono has Van Tijn pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Van Tijn manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ono looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ono jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Van Tijn walks away with a smile on his face. Ono gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Van Tijn is pushing Ono up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Ono trying to control the position but instead, Van Tijn has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ono into the cage.
Van Tijn can't get the takedown.
Van Tijn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ono looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Ono creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Ono breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ono with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ono is looking to clinch but Van Tijn is avoiding it.

and Ono counters by clinching up.

Ono lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Van Tijn looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ono stands up and beckons Van Tijn to join him on the feet.
Van Tijn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ono swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ono.
Ono lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ono is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ono throws a combination. Van Tijn tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ono crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Van Tijn - the referee stops the clock and Ono gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Van Tijn. Ono manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Ono counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Ono wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Van Tijn takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Ono wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Van Tijn has him pressed against the cage.
Ono throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akihiro Ono showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Ono tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Van Tijn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Van Tijn.

Van Tijn is trying to drag Ono to the mat but Ono just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ono pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Ono throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Ono scores with a hook to the body.
Ono lands a good knee to the midsection. Van Tijn won't want to take too many of those.
Van Tijn blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

and Ono counters with a leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Van Tijn tries to close the distance and clinch but Ono swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ono clinches up with Van Tijn and pushes him back against the cage.

Ono is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Van Tijn has his feet on Ono's thighs here. He's pushed Ono off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Ono screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
