PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Oleander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cheveyo Napayshni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Napayshni has chosen War Dance as his entrance music. Cheveyo Napayshni has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwight Oleander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cheveyo Napayshni!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oleander shoots in but Napayshni avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Oleander.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Napayshni wants to control but Oleander postures up.

Oleander tries for a kimura but Napayshni is defending well.

Oleander looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Oleander tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oleander has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Napayshni is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Napayshni can't do much from the bottom here.
Oleander prevents Napayshni from escaping the position.

Oleander tries for a kimura but Napayshni is defending well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Oleander showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Napayshni.

Oleander closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Napayshni is looking for a sweep.

Oleander goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Napayshni rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Oleander's guard! Nice work there by Napayshni!

Oleander has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Napayshni can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Oleander is breathing heavily.

Napayshni drops back looking for a leg! Oleander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oleander manages to kick Napayshni off! Napayshni jumps back into Oleander's guard.
Napayshni works over Oleander with some ground and pound from guard.
Napayshni lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Napayshni's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Napayshni is looking to work some ground and pound but Oleander has wrist control.
Napayshni trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Napayshni is in close to Oleander's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Oleander working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Napayshni doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Napayshni manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Oleander is looking for a triangle but Napayshni pushes his legs off easily.

Oleander looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Napayshni lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Napayshni in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Napayshni thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Napayshni postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Oleander has his foot on Napayshni's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Napayshni works his way back into a safe position though.

Napayshni thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Oleander escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Napayshni gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Napayshni lands a couple of digs.

Napayshni is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Napayshni loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Oleander looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Napayshni with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Napayshni thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dwight Oleander dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Napayshni scores with a decent looking hook.
Napayshni cracks Oleander with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Napayshni scores with a punch to the head.
Oleander uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Napayshni.
Napayshni cracks Oleander with a right hand to the side of the head.
Napayshni fails with the takedown

and Oleander counters with a nice double leg into side control. Napayshni won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Oleander tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Napayshni distracts Oleander with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Napayshni drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Napayshni jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Oleander has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Napayshni doesn't defend quickly enough and Oleander has managed to lock this one up! Can Napayshni escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Oleander on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dwight Oleander!
