Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronald Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patryck Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mendes sprawls well. Mendes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Mendes.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gracie tries to buck Mendes off but Mendes is having none of it.
Gracie takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mendes working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Gracie is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gracie dodges the ground and pound from Mendes.
Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mendes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mendes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gracie has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mendes but great work by Gracie.
Mendes tries to bench press Gracie off him but Gracie keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie wants to control but Mendes is keeping him busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mendes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mendes throwing strikes but missing.
Mendes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.
Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie trying to control but Mendes is working from the bottom.

Mendes wants to sweep but no luck.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Mendes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mendes manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Mendes's guard.
Mendes tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Mendes.
Gracie is not content to let Mendes control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gracie, who protects the arm well.
Gracie struggling a bit here.
Gracie tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mendes lands a decent elbow from side control.
Mendes decides to stand back up. Mendes steps back and let's Gracie get back to his feet.
Mendes has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Mendes wants the takedown. Gracie is fighting it off but Mendes persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gracie's guard against the cage.

Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patryck Mendes dominated that round.

Mendes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mendes won't be happy with that.
Mendes is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gracie is controlling him well.

Mendes is looking to escape here. Oh dear - Gracie has locked on a rear naked choke here! Mendes is tapping out! The fight is over!
