Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Let Ji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buff Bagwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ji comes to the cage accompanied by Anathema - Judgement. Let Ji could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Buff Bagwell's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Let Ji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Buff Bagwell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ji finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Ji avoids the body shot from Bagwell.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bagwell.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bagwell is looking to take a break and control but Ji is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ji tries to improve position but can't.

Bagwell looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ji is trying to control Bagwell's posture but Bagwell avoids it.
Ji is looking to regain half guard here but Bagwell keeps moving and retains side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ji avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bagwell.
Bagwell advances to full mount.
Ji tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bagwell trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ji tries to hold on but Bagwell postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bagwell goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ji turns into him and now he's in Bagwell's guard.
Bagwell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bagwell trying to keep a closed guard but Ji is proving a slippery customer.

Bagwell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bagwell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ji can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ji is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bagwell controls Ji momentarily but Ji frees himself.
Ji wanted to stand there but Bagwell had control of the position.

Bagwell working for a triangle but Ji defends it easily.
Ji trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bagwell's guard.
Bagwell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ji is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ji controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bagwell keeping moving, preventing Ji from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ji throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ji cracks Bagwell with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ji looks to land a right hand but Bagwell moved out of range.
Ji misses with a looping right.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Let Ji will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bagwell fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ji tries to clinch up but Bagwell circles away and keeps his distance.
Ji wants to land a leg kick but Bagwell is out of range.
Bagwell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bagwell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ji pinned against the cage. Ji gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice jab there from Ji.


Bagwell is rocked!
Let Ji seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ji tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bagwell is still on wobbly legs! Can Ji finish him?
Bagwell blocks a head kick by Ji.
Bagwell seems to have recovered his senses.

Bagwell shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ji is working to get back to half guard.

Bagwell jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ji manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bagwell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ji, who protects the arm well.
Bagwell laying and praying for a moment but Ji takes advantage and regains half guard.
Bagwell passes to full mount!
Ji gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bagwell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ji does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bagwell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bagwell prevents Ji from improving his position.
Ji wants to control but Bagwell is keeping busy.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bagwell in particular looking to stall.
Bagwell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ji does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bagwell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bagwell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ji waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Bagwell.
Bagwell blocks a head kick by Ji.
Ji uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bagwell.
Ji throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ji moves into the clinch successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bagwell tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Let Ji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buff Bagwell.

Ji pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A clash of legs there as Bagwell blocks the low kick.
Bagwell uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ji.
Bagwell avoids the head kick by Ji.
Ji fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ji tries to close the distance and clinch but Bagwell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ji moves in looking to clinch but Bagwell pushes him off.
Bagwell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bagwell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ji sprawls well initially but Bagwell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bagwell wants to take a breather but Ji is having none of it.
Ji wants to improve his position but Bagwell is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Buff Bagwell will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Bagwell checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Bagwell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bagwell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ji circles away.
Ji pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ji tries to land a front kick but Bagwell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ji misses with a double jab.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ji.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Bagwell with that takedown attempt.
Bagwell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bagwell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Let Ji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buff Bagwell.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ji on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Bagwell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ji.
Bagwell cracks Ji with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Bagwell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bagwell wants to pass the guard but Ji is keeping the position.

Bagwell has gone for a leg lock! Ji slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bagwell's guard.
Bagwell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bagwell is pulling down on Ji's head. It's preventing any offense from Ji, at least for the moment.

Ji got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bagwell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ji has managed to get both his arms back between Bagwell's legs - danger averted.
Ji controlling from the top position.

Bagwell looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ji passes into side control.
Bagwell is letting Ji control him for a moment.
You can see the frustration on Bagwell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bagwell tries to get back to half guard but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ji wants to stand but Bagwell is controlling his arm.
Bagwell is trying to get back to half guard.
Bagwell is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ji connects with a decent elbow.
Bagwell keeping his opponent close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ji slows the pace down.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Let Ji.
I think Ji has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
