The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brean. Bjorgensen throws a nice looking combination but Brean bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Brean moves into the clinch. Brean lands a hook to the side of the head. Brean stalling the fight.
Bjorgensen tries to break free but Brean pushes him back against the cage. Brean looking to stall.

It looks like Bjorn Bjorgensen has been cut. Bjorgensen is trying to break the clinch but Brean has him pressed against the cage. Bjorgensen dodges an elbow strike from Brean.
Bjorgensen softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Brean's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Brean misses with an elbow strike.

Brean misses with a wild body shot. Brean is looking to clinch. Bjorgensen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bjorgensen tries to bum rush Brean with a series of wild strikes but Brean uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bjorgensen misses with a few strikes there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brean avoids the body shot from Bjorgensen.
Bjorgensen throws a looping overhand right but Brean ducks down to avoid it. No luck for Brean with that takedown attempt. A swing and a miss from Bjorgensen. Brean lands a nice hook to Bjorgensen's body. Bjorgensen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Brean throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brean lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Brean tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bjorgensen throws a lazy head kick and Brean counters with a right hand to the body. Nice defenses there by Brean. Brean walks into a left hand. Good work by Bjorgensen as he checks the leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bjorgensen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Brean ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bjorgensen moves away. Bjorgensen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Brean decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bjorgensen's guard. Brean pushing down on Bjorgensen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Brean is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bjorgensen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brean. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brean moves nicely into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Brean dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bjorgensen throws a combination that misses and Brean counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bjorgensen's guard now. Brean passes easily into side control. Nice work. Brean laying and praying for a moment but Bjorgensen takes advantage and regains half guard. Bjorgensen wants to get back to full guard. Bjorgensen trying to hold on to Brean's head to control him but Brean postures up.
Brean is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Brean is trying to work for a kimura but Bjorgensen is defending well.

Brean works his way into full mount! Brean working for a guillotine from mount but Bjorgensen is in no mood to give up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Brean jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bjorgensen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bjorgensen and Brean has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Brean is breathing heavily. Brean throws a strike aimed at the side of Bjorgensen's head but Bjorgensen avoids it well. Brean tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brean has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Bjorgensen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The strikes coming from Brean are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brean is trying to get an arm triangle but Bjorgensen is defending well. Bjorgensen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brean wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Brean looking to control but instead Bjorgensen has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Brean seems to be working for a kimura but Bjorgensen defends the submission attempt. Bjorgensen tries to roll over but Brean keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Brean uses his free foot to push down on Bjorgensen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bjorgensen. Brean is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Brean!
