Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Logan Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Logan Briggs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Logan Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Watson!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Briggs darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Briggs is keen to just control but Watson is a slippery customer.
Briggs thows a huge punch but Watson dodges it nicely.
Watson is looking for a sweep. Briggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Watson wants to control but Briggs is keeping busy.
Briggs with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Watson is trying to get back to full guard.
Watson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Briggs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Briggs feints and as Watson raises his hands in defense, Briggs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Watson wriggles free and stands up.
Watson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Watson swats away the attempt to clinch by Briggs.

Briggs shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Briggs was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Briggs throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Watson is trying to escape the mount.
Briggs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Briggs tries to control but Watson wriggling away.
Watson tries to reverse the position but Briggs maintains control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Briggs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Watson looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Watson is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Briggs is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Watson is defending well though. Briggs let's go of the attempt for now.

Watson turns into Briggs and is now in his guard.
Watson wants to control from the top but Briggs keeps moving.
Briggs seems keen to control Watson's posture.

Briggs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Watson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Watson passes Briggs's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Briggs has one foot on Watson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Briggs closes the distance and pushes Watson back into the cage.
Briggs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Watson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Briggs prevents the takedown attempt.
Briggs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Briggs jumps guard and drags Watson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Briggs has control of Watson's left arm, preventing Watson from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Briggs instigates a clinch.
Watson is working for takedown but Briggs is calmly controlling the position for now.

Watson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Briggs pulls his head out easily.
Briggs is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Watson!

Briggs has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Briggs scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Watson is looking for a way out.
Logan Briggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Watson is taking damage to the body and head.

Briggs is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Watson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Briggs scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Briggs is hanging on to Watson's back as he tries to escape.

Briggs is looking for the choke from the back position but Watson is controlling his hands well.
Watson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Briggs.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Logan Briggs just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Briggs shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Briggs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Watson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Briggs is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Briggs's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Briggs is looking to take a break and control but Watson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Watson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Briggs is pressing down on Watson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Watson is holding on for now.
Briggs is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Briggs stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Watson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Some wild striking there from Briggs.

Briggs closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Watson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Briggs smiles and moves away.

Briggs has closed the distance and engaged Watson in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Briggs tries to circle away but Watson has him pinned against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Watson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Watson is trying to break free.

Briggs wants the takedown. Watson is fighting it off but Briggs persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Watson's guard against the cage.
Watson is trying to hold Briggs in close to prevent damage but Briggs has managed to pass into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Briggs in particular looking to stall.
Watson wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Briggs performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Watson is trying to control but Briggs passes into side control!
Briggs is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Watson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Watson is trying to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Briggs has hold of Watson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Watson seems comfortable defending it but Briggs has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Watson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Watson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Briggs couldn't care less - he's delighted!
