Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Canuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canuck has chosen Where the streets have no names as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Canuck! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Canuck but Canuck pushes him off and we're back to square one. Canuck bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Canuck tries to advance to mount but Nelson denies him. Nelson is pushing Canuck's head away, looking to escape. Canuck manages to hold on to the position though. Nelson is looking for a sweep. Canuck is putting a hurting on Nelson here, landing some big shots from side control. Nelson can't do much from the bottom here. Nelson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Nelson is not content to let Canuck control the position. Canuck controls the position. Nelson tries to improve position but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson is trying to control Canuck's posture but Canuck avoids it. Canuck working the ground and pound from side control. Nelson is trying to get back to half guard. Canuck in side control, just content to control the action for now. Nelson is trying to control Canuck's posture but Canuck avoids it. Canuck happy to just control the position for now. Canuck is looking to take a break and control but Nelson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Canuck should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Canuck taking a breather here. Canuck working away. Canuck taking a breather here. Canuck creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Nelson can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Nelson looks to move to half guard but instead Canuck has passed into mount! Damn! Canuck controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nelson is squirming around, avoiding Canuck's attempts to control the action. Canuck with the ground and pound from mount. Canuck breaks from Nelson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Canuck lands a big elbow. Canuck controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Despite being in the dominant position, Johnny Canuck just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nelson gets caught flat footed, as Canuck shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Nelson is breathing heavily. Nelson controls Canuck momentarily but Canuck frees himself. Nelson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nelson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Canuck tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control. Canuck controlling the position for now. Canuck is trying to maintain the position but Nelson is very close to passing his half guard. Canuck won't allow Nelson to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Canuck dominated that round. That's time! Nelson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Nelson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Canuck decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nelson's guard. Canuck sitting in guard, not really doing much. Nelson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Canuck scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Nelson is trying to keep Canuck in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Canuck's guard. Canuck looking to control.
Canuck wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Nelson wants to get up but he can't break Canuck's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Canuck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Canuck working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nelson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Canuck is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Canuck has escaped and now he's on top! Canuck stays in close to Nelson's body and controls the position.

Nelson has his takedown stuffed and Canuck counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nelson's guard now. Canuck wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Canuck defends well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Canuck controlling from the top position. Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Canuck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Canuck manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Nelson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nelson misses with a takedown attempt and Canuck counters with a shoot takedown. Nelson fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Canuck not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Nelson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Johnny Canuck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Canuck tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Canuck looking to control but Nelson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Nelson wants to hold on but Canuck pushes him away. Canuck working the ground and pound effectively.
Canuck sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Nelson is squirming around, avoiding Canuck's attempts to control the action. Johnny Canuck has got the better of the ground game so far.

Nelson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Nelson wants to control the position but Canuck says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Canuck content to control rather than advance. Nelson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Nelson wants to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Canuck shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nelson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Canuck wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Nelson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Canuck is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nelson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Canuck's back instead. Roy Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! You can see the frustration on Canuck's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnny Canuck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Canuck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
