Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Riessig Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slade comes to the cage accompanied by Conan The Destroyer. Corbett has chosen fue a por trabajo y le comieron lo de abajo as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Riessig Slade! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Corbett! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Corbett misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Slade scores with a sloppy right hand. Corbett should have avoided that one. Corbett is looking to clinch. Corbett ducks under a wild hook from Slade. Corbett throws an overhand right that lands on Slade's shoulder, as Slade tries to avoid the shot. Corbett lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slade circles away quickly and effectively. Slade looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Corbett shoots in looking for a takedown. Slade tries to sprawl out of it but Corbett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slade manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Slade bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Corbett tries to score with a low kick but Slade moves his leg out of the way.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corbett on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Corbett is looking to slow Slade down with leg kicks. Slade lands with a nice body punch. Slade throws a leg kick which misses Corbett's front leg but catches the back leg as Corbett tries to avoid it. Corbett looks gassed! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Slade lands a left and a right that send Corbett crashing to the mat, dazed. Slade thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Corbett is rocked!
It looks like Nathan Corbett has been cut. Slade swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A punch combination from Slade misses. Corbett throws a leg kick that is checked and Corbett takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nathan Corbett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Corbett throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Corbett misses and Slade counters with a right hand to the body. Slade lands a slapping body shot.
Slade fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Corbett. Slade throws a nice outside leg kick. Slade connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Slade digs a good hook to Corbett's body.
Slade motions for Corbett to come forward. Slade throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Slade fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The fighters circle momentarily. Slade darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slade takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Slade tries to bum rush Corbett with a series of wild strikes but Corbett uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A low kick from Corbett misses and Slade counters with a leg kick. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Slade, right into the meat.
Slade dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Corbett. That did some damage! Corbett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Slade. Slade just misses with a punch to the body.
Slade swings for the body but Corbett moves out of range.
Slade pivots, looking for a leg kick but Corbett is out of range and Slade settles back down. Slade is looking to wear down Corbett with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Corbett shoots and misses and Slade counters with a lovely straight right hand! This has been an exciting period of action! Corbett misses with a low kick.
Slade cracks a nice hook into Corbett's ribs. Slade connects with a solid leg kick. Corbett moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Slade, as that shot connected.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Slade misses with a combination
and Corbett counters with a big head kick but Slade shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Riessig Slade dominated that round. The cut man is working on Nathan Corbett's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Corbett needs to keep his hands up - Slade had a free shot at his head there. Slade lands a big uppercut and Corbett crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Corbett looks OK. Slade waves Corbett back to his feet! Corbett is still on wobbly legs! Can Slade finish him? Slade scores with a hook to the body. Corbett takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Slade lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Corbett is looking to close the distance but Slade sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Corbett crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Corbett is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Riessig Slade! Riessig Slade retains his light heavyweight title!
