Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Lowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Slutskaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lowe comes to the cage accompanied by The Ballad of Curtis Lowe- Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ivan Slutskaya will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis Lowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Slutskaya!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slutskaya gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lowe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lowe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slutskaya swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Slutskaya looking for a sweep. Not yet Slutskaya, not yet.
Lowe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lowe postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Slutskaya looking to control.
Lowe wants to control from the top but Slutskaya keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slutskaya wants to sweep but no luck.

Lowe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slutskaya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lowe has managed to get both his arms back between Slutskaya's legs - danger averted.

Slutskaya has momentary wrist control but Lowe slips an elbow through the middle.
Lowe wants to control from the top but Slutskaya keeps moving.
Lowe wants to pass the guard but Slutskaya is keeping the position.

Lowe distracts Slutskaya with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Lowe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Lowe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Slutskaya working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lowe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lowe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lowe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lowe scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lowe is in close to Slutskaya's body, working some short punches and elbows.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slutskaya tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lowe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slutskaya is keeping the position for now.

Lowe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Slutskaya trying to keep a closed guard but Lowe is proving a slippery customer.

Lowe working over Slutskaya with some ground and pound. Slutskaya looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Slutskaya wants to improve his position but Lowe is controlling well.
Lowe works his foot free and advances to mount.

Slutskaya is trying desperately to improve position.
A nice elbow there by Lowe.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slutskaya is bucking up trying to escape but Lowe cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Lowe working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The referee warns Slutskaya that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slutskaya keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lowe lands with some strikes.
Lowe avoids the attempt from Slutskaya to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lowe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slutskaya taking shots to the head.
Lowe controlling the pace for now.
Lowe is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Slutskaya can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Curtis Lowe dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Lowe lands a huge takedown. Slutskaya is out but the ref is slow to react and Lowe lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Slutskaya lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Curtis Lowe!
