Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Fist! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pierre Laveaux! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laveaux tries to land a front kick but Fist steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Laveaux tries to land a leg kick but Fist saw it coming and moves away.
Laveaux fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Laveaux misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fist fails with a takedown attempt. Laveaux closes the distance and pushes Fist back into the cage. Laveaux is looking to break free of the clinch but Fist has double underhooks. Laveaux wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Laveaux is pressed up against the cage. Fist has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laveaux down to the mat. Laveaux avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laveaux cracks Fist with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Fist looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Laveaux finish him?
It looks like Rick Fist has been cut. Fist shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Laveaux tries to kick Fist off but Fist keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laveaux wants to improve his position but Fist is controlling well.
Fist thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Laveaux is looking for a sweep. Fist is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Laveaux can do anything to dispel that myth. Laveaux tries to kick Fist off but Fist keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Laveaux tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Fist manages to move to mount!
Laveaux is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Laveaux wants to control but Fist is having none of it. Laveaux is trying desperately to improve position. Laveaux tries to hold on but Fist pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laveaux wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Fist has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Laveaux taps furiously! This one is all over!
