Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and pete pablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). pablo has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Nathan Bell has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Bell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, pete pablo! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! pablo leaves Bell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bell shoots for a takedown but pablo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. pablo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Bell. That's going to take a lot out of him. pablo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bell looks to land a combination. pablo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. pablo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bell circles away quickly and effectively. pablo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Bell counters with a nice double leg into side control. pablo won't be happy with that. pablo struggling a bit here. pablo is trying to get back to half guard. pablo looks gassed! Bell stands up and beckons pablo to his feet. Bell lands with a nice combination. pablo backs away looking to recover. Bell lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Bell moves into the clinch. Bell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Bell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. pablo won't allow Bell to get back to his feet. pablo wants to control from the top but Bell keeps moving. Bell lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for pablo! Bell wants to control the pace but pablo is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Nathan Bell just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Bell lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. pablo closes the distance looking to clinch and Bell counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Bell decides to stand and escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Left hook, right uppercut from Bell. pablo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Bell shoots for a takedown but pablo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Bell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as pablo sprawls well. pablo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bell gets slowly back to his feet. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. pablo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Bell moves into range and connects with a jab. pablo with a poor takedown and Bell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bell shoots in and bounces pablo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. pablo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bell is pushing down on pablo's leg trying to pass to half guard. pablo is fighting to maintain full guard but Bell has managed to sneak the leg through. Bell decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Bell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Good leg kick by Bell there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Bell looking for a takedown. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bell is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Bell gets underhooks to prevent pablo's takedown attempt.
Bell changes levels and goes for a takedown here. pablo fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bell fails with the takedown and pablo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. pablo is trying to control. Bell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Bell gets full guard. Bell wants to stand and escape but pablo is having none of it. pablo chips away with some ground and pound. pablo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bell pushes pablo off and scrambles back to his feet.
Bell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has pablo pinned against the cage. pablo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell tries for a takedown but pablo circles away easily and pablo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bell won't be happy with that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Bell. That's going to take a lot out of him. pablo in side control, throwing shots but Bell defends. Bell sneaks back into half guard. Bell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from pablo. Bell moves into full guard.
pablo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bell is looking to stand up but pablo isn't so interested in that idea. Bell keeping moving, preventing pablo from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nathan Bell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. pablo stops Bell from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. pablo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
pablo throws a jab but it's blocked by Bell. Bell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Bell gets in close and instigates a clinch. pablo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Bell turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if pablo can do anything to dispel that myth. pablo wants to control but Bell postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bell stands up and we're back to a striking position. Bell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nathan Bell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bell avoids a kick to the body.
pablo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Bell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. pablo is looking to escape. Bell tries to stand but his hand is stuck under pablo. Bell is trying to control the action in half guard but pablo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Bell is looking for a kimura but pablo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bell to get the leverage. Bell wants to stand up but pablo has a hold of him and won't allow it. Bell prevents pablo from improving his position.

Bell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. pablo tries to clinch up and Bell counters with a three punch combo that has pablo backing up. pablo nods at Bell to acknowledge the strikes. Bell lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as pablo backs up against the cage.
Bell scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Bell shoots and misses so pablo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. pablo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and pablo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. pablo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Bell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell wants to stand up but pablo is controlling him. Bell has his feet on pablo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. pablo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Bell is looking for a sweep. pablo prevents Bell from escaping the position. pablo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bell keeps working. Bell defending against the ground and pound. Bell trying to control but pablo flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Bell trying to control the position but pablo manages to sink in the hooks. Bell is trying to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bell breaks pablo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
pablo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Bell regains half guard. Still in half guard, pablo seems content to control. Bell is trying to stand back up but pablo is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bell fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bell moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Bell shoots and misses and pablo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Bell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bell pushes pablo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Bell shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bell showed some decent athleticism there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bell wants to free his trapped foot but pablo is holding on for dear life with his legs. pablo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Bell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. pablo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bell distracts pablo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. pablo trying to control the position.
Bell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on pablo, up you get! A nice combination there by Bell.
Bell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around pablo's waist but pablo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bell off to one side. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. pablo shoots in for a double leg but Bell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Bell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. pablo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten pablo somewhat. pablo has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Bell tries for a takedown but pablo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to pete pablo. Well Bell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
