Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Son! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Palosi balogna! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Son shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches balogna napping and manages to drive through into side control! The ground and pound from Son seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Son tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Son has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! balogna tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Son easily slips into full mount! Son unloads with some shots from mount but balogna bucks and avoids them well.
Son is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. balogna can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - balogna looks like he's thinking about clinching though. balogna with a lazy takedown attempt and Son counters with a nice double leg into guard. Joe Son overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. balogna shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Son counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. balogna keeping moving, preventing Son from controlling successfully. Son is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. balogna looking for a sweep. Not yet balogna, not yet. Son passes easily into side control. Nice work. balogna prevents Son from improving position.
