Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Ellroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones throws a shot from downtown. Ellroy moves away and avoids it. John Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A big right from Jones misses. Ellroy is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Decent striking displayed by Jones there. Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Ellroy's shoulder, as Ellroy tries to avoid the shot. Ellroy walks into a straight right hand from Jones. Ellroy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ellroy gets slowly back to his feet. Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Ellroy tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Jones lands a jab to the head.
Ellroy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control! Jones wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Jones is looking for a sweep. Jones is not content to let Ellroy control the position. Ellroy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ellroy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellroy advances to full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ellroy is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Ellroy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones. Jones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ellroy sees it coming and avoids it easily. Ellroy uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jones. Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ellroy. Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Jones lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ellroy at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ellroy moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Ellroy wants a takedown.

Jones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Jones cracks Ellroy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Ellroy walks into a jab. Jones throws a shot from downtown. Ellroy moves away and avoids it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that James Ellroy will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jones throws the left hand but Ellroy avoids the punch easily.

Nice cross by Jones. Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ellroy takes a shot to the body in his stride.

John Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on John Jones's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
