Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Kofhal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Waterston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterston tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kofhal tries to clinch but Waterston moves out of range.
Waterston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kofhal moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Waterston throws a body punch but Kofhal moves out of range.
Kofhal could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kofhal shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Waterston wants to improve his position but Kofhal is controlling well.
Waterston has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kofhal is working away from the top position though.

Kofhal manages to capitalize on a mistake by Waterston to take his back!
Kofhal has the hooks in. Waterston is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Kofhal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waterston on the ground.

Kofhal seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Waterston for as long as he can get away with.

Waterston is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kofhal has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Waterston has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kofhal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Waterston throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Kofhal can't escape the position.
Waterston avoids the attempt from Kofhal to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kofhal looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
Kofhal is looking to improve his position but Waterston isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kofhal holds on, trying desperately to control.

Kofhal bucks Waterston off and manages to get back to his feet!

Kofhal has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Waterston wants to get back to his feet but Kofhal is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kofhal closes this distance looking for a takedown but Waterston circles away.
Waterston lands with a slapping head kick.

Sam Waterston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Oh Kofhal is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Waterston is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Kofhal flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Kofhal is out cold! Waterston holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sam Waterston!
