Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rey Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nino Marques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Nino Marques enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rey Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nino Marques!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marques shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Jones clinches up against the cage.

Marques manages to break the clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Marques pushes Jones off but Jones dives into side control.

Jones stands up and beckons Marques to his feet.
Marques lands a head kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marques pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marques throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Marques tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Jones counters with a takedown into side control.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jones wants to clinch.
Marques scores with a nice right hand.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Marques tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Marques has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Marques has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.
Marques wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Jones successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marques lands a high kick!
Marques looks gassed!

Jones rushes Marques and presses him up against the cage.

Jones has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Marques regains guard immediately.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marques, up you get!

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Jones has Marques pressed against the cage, preventing Marques from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Jones stalling in the clinch.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rey Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nino Marques.
Jones gets underhooks to prevent Marques's takedown attempt.

Jones has clasped his hands together around Marques's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Jones decides to stand back up.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marques, pushing him back against the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marques misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.

Marques is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jones is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Marques to the mat. Marques regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Jones stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Marques goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Jones rushes Marques and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marques throws a head kick that misses.
Jones avoids the head kick by Marques.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Marques's half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marques missing with punches from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Marques.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marques can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rey Jones dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Jones stands and steps away. Marques gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Marques throws a one two combo.

Jones looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Jones stands up from Marques's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marques tries to clinch
and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
A head kick by Jones misses
and Marques counters with a big head kick but Jones shrugs it off.

Marques swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.
Marques throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Marques with a lazy takedown attempt

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Marques's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marques is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Marques.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jones stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A head kick from Marques lands but Jones takes it in his stride.
Jones misses with a combination
and Marques counters with a left and a right that stings Jones.
Nice body kick from Jones.
Marques walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Marques in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Jones.
Marques is trying to break free.

Jones turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Jones decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marques tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones blocks a head kick by Marques.
Marques throws a head kick that misses.

Jones clinches with his opponent.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jones pushes Marques off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Marques throws a head kick that Jones semi-blocks.
Rey Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marques misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marques can't get the takedown.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Marques misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marques as he jumps to the side.
Marques plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

and Marques counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jones keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Marques's efforts to push away.
Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Marques pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Jones looks to throw an elbow but misses.

and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Marques!
Rey Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Marques keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Marques tries to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Jones content just to control the position here.
Marques is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Marques wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Marques tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Jones looking to control and managing it successfully.
Marques is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Marques is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones controlling from mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rey Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
