Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Farmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Farmer!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farmer wants to clinch.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.

Jones has managed to clinch.
Farmer has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jones lands an elbow inside.


It looks like John Farmer has been cut.
Jones takes a shot to the head.
Jones pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Farmer is trying to force a seperation but Jones has the dominant position.
Farmer tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.
Farmer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Dave Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Farmer.

Jones closes the distance and pushes Farmer back into the cage.

Farmer pulls guard.
Jones works over Farmer with some ground and pound from guard.
Jones wants to stand but Farmer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Farmer looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Farmer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Farmer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Farmer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Farmer looks gassed!
Jones cracks Farmer with a solid left hand.

Jones advances position into side control!

Jones stands up and beckons Farmer to his feet.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jones has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jones advances position into side control!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Farmer on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Jones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Jones cracks Farmer with a big right hand but Farmer just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Jones tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Farmer is looking to reverse the position.
Jones lands some shots froms side control.
Jones landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Jones wants to control but Farmer is keeping him busy.
Farmer tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it.

Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Farmer keeps working.

Jones decides to stand back up.
Jones is looking to clinch but Farmer is avoiding it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones clinches.
Farmer can't get the takedown.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
Jones content to slow the pace in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Farmer's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A kick lands to the mid section there for Jones.
Jones tries to clinch but Farmer moves out of range.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Farmer tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Farmer to the ground. Farmer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Farmer, pushing him back against the cage.
Jones tries for a takedown but Farmer manages to get underhooks.

Jones gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones trying to pass the guard but Farmer defending well.

Farmer looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jones looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Jones stands up out of the half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Farmer gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Farmer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones postures up in Farmer's guard and throws a big left but Farmer blocks it.

Jones stands up from Farmer's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Farmer throws a head kick that misses.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Farmer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Farmer clinches but Jones breaks the clinch

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Farmer's guard now.

Farmer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jones thows a big elbow that misses.
Farmer is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Farmer keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

Farmer working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Farmer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jones is looking for a triangle but Farmer pushes his legs off easily.
Jones throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Farmer manages to get himself to full guard.

Jones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dave Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Farmer is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Farmer has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Farmer has wrist control.
Jones passes Farmer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jones lands strikes from half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Farmer works to full guard.
Farmer wants to stand up but Jones is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jones with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Farmer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Come on Jones - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Jones seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Farmer with a knee to the head.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Farmer's head.
Farmer working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones lands an elbow that stopped Farmer in his tracks for a moment.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jones creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Farmer looking to pass the guard.

Farmer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.
Jones stands and throws Farmer's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones cracks Farmer with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Jones lands a decent elbow from side control.

Jones throws an elbow but Farmer slips to the side and avoids it well.
Jones is putting a hurting on Farmer here, landing some big shots from side control.
Farmer is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jones has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Farmer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Farmer struggling a bit here.

Farmer is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Farmer is trying to buck Jones off.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Farmer keeps working.
Jones sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Farmer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Jones clinches up against the cage.
Jones is pressed up against the cage. Farmer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jones has managed to clinch.
Jones lands a shoulder strike.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.
Farmer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jones pushes Farmer off and scrambles back to his feet.
Dave Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Farmer tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
John Farmer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Farmer using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jones has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dave Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
