Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Schaffner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Millar! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Millar misses the target. Millar dodges the punch combination from Schaffner.
Millar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Millar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schaffner avoids it really well and circles away. Schaffner misses with a two punch combination.
Schaffner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Millar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Schaffner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Millar misses with a takedown and Schaffner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Richard Schaffner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Millar. Millar throws a combination. Schaffner tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Schaffner displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like David Millar has been cut. Schaffner lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Millar at a distance.
Millar walks into a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Millar seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Schaffner shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Millar is backing up but Schaffner catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Millar covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Schaffner Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Schaffner!
