PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Path (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolfman Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Path's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Robert Tepper - No Easy Way Out. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joey Path!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wolfman Jack!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Path throws the left hand but Jack avoids the punch easily.
Jack fails with a takedown attempt.
Jack fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Path avoids it really well and circles away.
Wolfman Jack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jack shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Path pinned against the cage. Path gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Joey Path has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wolfman Jack.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jack.

Path gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jack to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jack postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Path is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jack, into his guard.

Path avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Path landing with the ground and pound.

Path got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Path has managed to get both his arms back between Jack's legs - danger averted.
Path trying to control but Jack is working from the bottom.

Jack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Path can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Path trying to control the position from guard on top but Jack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Path loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jack is looking for a triangle but Path pushes his legs off easily.
Jack looks gassed!
Path slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Path trying to control the position from guard on top but Jack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Jack is looking for a triangle but Path pushes his legs off easily.
Path controlling from the top position.
Path with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jack preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Path not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Path wants to control from the top but Jack keeps moving.
Jack is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jack is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Path sees it coming and defends easily.

Jack trying to mount his opponent but Path defends it.
Path is looking for a sweep. Jack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jack working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Path's thigh. Path counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Path throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Path throws a big shot that misses.
Path pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Jack decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Path is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jack is looking to stall here but Path recovers full guard.

Jack is sitting in close to Path's body. Path has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Jack is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Jack is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Path.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Joey Path!
