Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fredrik Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Padraig Pavlovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Padraig Pavlovich will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Padraig Pavlovich! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pavlovich will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Svensson with a poor takedown and Pavlovich counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Svensson! Svensson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Svensson is looking to get to half guard. Pavlovich tries to control but Svensson wriggling away. Svensson wants to control but Pavlovich is having none of it. Pavlovich pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Pavlovich goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Svensson is on top in guard.
Pavlovich looks gassed! Svensson stands up from Pavlovich's guard - Svensson perhaps looking for a knockout. Svensson closes the distance and clinches. Svensson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Svensson sitting in guard here, content to control. Svensson passes Pavlovich's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Svensson controlling the pace. Svensson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Pavlovich tries to roll over but Svensson keeps him under control. Svensson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Pavlovich tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Svensson has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Pavlovich keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Svensson avoids the attempt from Pavlovich to control. Svensson get's back to his feet. Svensson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Svensson controlling the position from side mount. Pavlovich manages to get back to half guard. Pavlovich is looking to improve his position.

Pavlovich has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Svensson escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Svensson! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pavlovich is trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Pavlovich's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pavlovich is looking to reverse the position. Who's going to make the next move? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pavlovich is trying to improve his position. Pavlovich struggling a bit here. Svensson scores with punches from side control. Pavlovich tries to improve position but can't.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Svensson fails with the takedown and Pavlovich counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Svensson's guard now. Svensson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Svensson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Svensson has his hands on Pavlovich's head, controlling the position. Svensson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Pavlovich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Svensson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Svensson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pavlovich is trying to control but can't.
Svensson stands up out of the half guard. Svensson fails with the takedown and Pavlovich counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Svensson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pavlovich is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fredrik Svensson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pavlovich being controlled here, momentarily. Pavlovich looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Svensson passes Pavlovich's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Svensson winds up and cracks Pavlovich with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Pavlovich is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Svensson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Svensson is trying to control the action in half guard but Pavlovich is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Pavlovich is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Svensson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Svensson's back! Will Pavlovich go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
That's one minute gone in the round. Pavlovich is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Svensson is defending well though. Pavlovich let's go of the attempt for now. Svensson looking very determined here, making life difficult for Pavlovich.

Svensson just trying to survive but Pavlovich is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Svensson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Svensson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Svensson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Pavlovich working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Svensson's thigh. Svensson counters though and makes it back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pavlovich preventing the sweep. Svensson looking for a triangle here. Pavlovich is fighting it but it looks tight! Svensson pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Pavlovich is tapping out - this one is all over!
